Bollywood and Road Trips – An Evergreen Connection

Bollywood plays a key role in inspiring the masses. A few movies have been iconic in tracing the culture of road trips, and they’re well loved among the young and old alike! We’re listing some of our favorites for you:

  1. Bombay to Goa

One of the earliest movies about a road trip, Bombay to Goa added to the charm of Goa!ย What makes the movie memorable is the fun bus journey, full of adventure and comedy complete with ensemble passengers who hail from all over India, every religion and culture well represented, interacting with each other and creating hilarious situations.

  2. Dil Chahta Hai

This one needs no introduction! For the 90’s kids, a road trip means Bombay to Goa thanks to Dil Chahta Hai. Give these kids a convertible, and let them roll. Don’t forget to re-enact all the scenes of the movie. ๐Ÿ˜›

  3. Road, Movie

A relatively unheard of movie, this one captures the beauty of Rajasthan. The coolest part is that the vehicle used for the road trip is a truck! Plus Abhay Deol. Enough said.

  4. 3 Idiots

When one thinks of this movie, the phrase “All izz well” comes to mind. And of course, Ladakh. The Pangong Lake shot to fame with the last scene of 3 Idiots. Plus, the movie was shown in a flashback with R. Mahadavan and Sharman Joshi on a road trip to find Aamir Khan.

A poignant tale which is more than the story of a kidnapping, Highway is about liberation, freedom and the broad divide between the backgrounds of the elite and the fringes of society. The movie has been beautifully shot and captures the beauty of the North.

  7. Finding Fanny

A journey in an old car with a motley assortment of characters, Finding Fanny has a brilliant cast and the ability to make you laugh out loud and get misty eyed at the same time. This one is a road trip of discovery and bonding!
